Document Studio

Our Document Studio drafts and analyses legal documents in a secure, on-premise environment, and keeps the documents behind your matters up to date as new data comes in and procedural steps fall due.

What it does

The Document Studio is where our legal documents are made and read. It drafts contracts, letters, memos and opinions in the firm's house style, and it analyses the documents that reach us: a contract from the other side, a letter from an opponent, a decision from an office. All of this runs in a secure, on-premise environment, so your documents stay within our own infrastructure.

The Studio is not a separate tool. It is connected to the rest of our platform, so the documents in a matter follow the matter. When a watch service finds an infringing use, the cease-and-desist letter is prepared from the facts already on file. When a processing activity changes, the data protection impact assessment is brought up to date. When a procedural step falls due, the next document is ready for the lawyer.

The Studio takes over the routine work: structure, party details, defined terms, formatting and keeping documents in step with the facts. The judgement stays with the lawyer. Every document is read, adapted and signed off by an attorney before it leaves the firm.

Functions

Drafts built for the matter

A draft starts from a short brief in plain language or from a guided set-up that asks for the inputs step by step: parties, term, territory, price, governing law. The Studio assembles a complete draft in a fixed structure, so that every document reads and is organised the same way.

What goes in: the facts of your matter and the commercial terms. What comes out: a draft that fits your deal, not a generic form. Where a lawyer checks: the terms inserted and every departure from our usual position.

Analysis of incoming documents

Documents from the other side are read in the same secure environment. The Studio identifies the parties, dates, obligations and deadlines, and points the lawyer to the clauses and passages that need attention. Contracts are then tested against our playbook in our contract review, and obligations go to contract obligations tracking.

Documents that keep up with the matter

The Studio draws on data from other parts of our platform. Findings from trademark and design watch and online brand monitoring feed cease-and-desist letters and takedown requests. The privacy register feeds the DPIA tool. When new data arrives or a deadline approaches, the document concerned is updated or the next one is prepared, and the lawyer decides what is sent.

Party details from profiles

Client and counterparty details are taken from profiles and not retyped. Where a company register is available, the Studio uses its data, such as name, legal form, registered office and company number. The lawyer confirms the details, in particular who signs for the company.

The clause library behind the draft

Drafts are assembled from our versioned clause library, with clauses in English, Dutch, French and German and consistent defined terms. When a rule changes, the clause is updated once and the new text is used in every later draft.

Word and the client portal

Output is a Word (.docx) file. The Studio is also available inside Microsoft Word through an add-in, so a lawyer can draft, adapt and review without switching tools. In the client portal, you can prepare recurring, low-risk documents such as NDAs yourself, using set-ups the firm has prepared for you. The portal does not let a document proceed with essential data missing.

What you receive

  • documents drafted for your matter, in our house style, with a fixed structure and consistent defined terms;
  • incoming documents analysed in a secure, on-premise environment, with the points that matter flagged;
  • letters, assessments and other documents that stay in step with new facts and procedural deadlines;
  • party details that match official records;
  • documents checked and adapted by the responsible attorney before they reach you.

A walk-through: our watch service reports a webshop selling goods under a sign close to your trademark. The finding, your registration and the evidence are already on file, so the Studio prepares the cease-and-desist letter in the right language. The attorney reads it, adjusts the tone and the demands, and sends it. When the deadline in the letter passes without a reply, the Studio prepares the next step, a takedown request or a complaint, and the attorney decides how to proceed.

Where it is used

The Document Studio supports commercial contracts and transactions, trademark licensing, patent and technology licensing, data processing agreements and data licensing and sharing. It prepares the letters behind online brand protection, and the agreements that come with funding rounds and with the tax regimes we advise on.
