Hire a service provider, especially a law firm, and you usually hear “good, fast, cheap: pick two”. Cheap and good is rarely fast; cheap and fast probably won’t be any good; and good and fast is rarely cheap.

So most law firms focus on quality first, then speed, and bill for time and materials. As a client, you have very little control over that invoice.

That made us rethink how we work with clients.

We think like entrepreneurs, and it shows in everything we do. Most law firms split their services into silos like “Corporate”, “Commercial”, “IP” or “HR”. We work across them. That helps in two ways. You don’t lose time, because you explain your challenge once, to one point of contact. And you don’t need a table full of experts who each handle their own piece, and whose work then has to be coordinated, which drives up costs.

A traditional law firm that needs to speed up without losing quality usually throws more people at a matter. But time doesn’t scale, and the traditional way doesn’t always give the best result. So we invest heavily in technology that helps us do better.

By standardising and digitising our processes, we cut delivery times a lot:

• our Document Studio drafts complete, high-quality documents that are truly tailored to what you need;
• other systems we (co-)developed use algorithms, artificial intelligence and machine learning, so we have more time for complex issues. By automating certain steps in producing documents such as cease and desist letters, takedown requests and complaints, we bring the total cost down for clients.

The result: we work faster, scale our services and keep our full focus on quality, while keeping costs under control.
